Productions in the ARTE Opera Season will be almost always streamed live and will then be available on replay. These operas can be streamed at least within Europe and in most cases worldwide. They will be subtitled live to cater for their international audience: initially in German, English and French, with Italian, Polish and Spanish added from January 2019. For certain productions, this new venture has been facilitated by a close partnership between ARTE and broadcasters all over Europe, including RTÉ, RTBF, YLE and RTS.

Part of the ARTE catalogue is now available online to 70% of Europeans in their respective mother tongue. Thanks to the support of the European Union, ARTE provides a selection of its programmes, in addition to the French and German language versions, with subtitles: in Spanish and English since 2015, in Polish since 2016 and in Italian since June 2018.

The ARTE Opera Season seeks to present the artistic diversity and quality of European opera and to attract new audiences around the world.
