ARMEL SONG COMPETITION

In April 2017 Armel Opera Festival announced a competition for singers to perform the Hungarian version of the Armel Song (the official song of Armel Opera Festival). In accordance with the competition rules, the Hungarian version of Armel Opera Festival’s official song – the Hungarian lyrics of which had been written by Dusán Sztevanovity – was recorded with the participation of the candidates. The song is a duet. In the first round the jury shortlisted five male and five female singers who the audience could vote for on our website. The members of the duo with the most votes received a 200 thousand HUF award each. Out of the top five duos the winners of the Main Prize – the members of which received a one-million HUF prize each – were announced at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest on 18th June 2017.

The winners of the Audience Award and the Main Prize performed the Armel Song at Armel Opera Festival’s Gala Event hosted at Thália Theatre on 4th July with the participation of the Pannon Philharmonic.
